On yesterday we shared with you a freebie for the little one(s) - a Chore Chart - to help them with getting organized and motivated to accomplish their chores at home. Today we wanted to share a freebie with the older girls to get them in the groove of writing and connecting with their friends, especially the Seniors who will be graduating this upcoming year and wanting to stay connected with their friends. We created Monogram Note Cards (+ BONUS FREEBIE...so, please keep reading!)

Download Editable Note Cards - Here

In order to use the Note Cards you must first have Microsoft Word (preferably 2007 or higher). If you would like to use the font shown in the image you can download it for free (Monogram KK) - here - if not you can use whatever fonts you currently have available and installed own your own pc.

Once you open the document, it may appear to be "washed out", please don't be alarmed... the Note Card images have been placed behind the header/footer to make it easier to add/remove text boxes. When you're ready to print your colors will print as normal (bright and vibrant).

So, let's move right along to the other FREEBIE... in order to access that freebie you will need to visit our Graphic Design website - click here - We hope you enjoy your new stationery Note Cards. Good luck to you and we're praying for you to have a successful school year!

We've created this fun chore chart freebie for you, just in time for the upcoming school year to help your little one(s) become a little more organized. Chore charts (also known as a reward charts or behavior charts) are a fun and interactive way to get your little ones motivated to track (and accomplish) their chores. Chore charts are also a great way to organize house duties among your child(ren). With any "new" system there is a grace period and a learning curve. To get your child(ren) actively using the chore chart you must encourage them to use it on a daily/regular basis. Eventually, it will become a part of their normal routine and will require minimal to no parental guidance. Make sure the chores you're requesting from your child(ren) are age appropriate and things they can accomplish on their own without the help/guidance of anyone. Chore charts are a great way to boost your little one(s) self-esteem and provide them with a sense of pride. You can attach monetary awards to your charts or other fun outings and activities your children are interested in.

This chore chart is sized at 8.5X11 and can be framed or either laminated, in the picture below the chart is framed (using a 8.5X11 white frame from Ikea). Please post and share pics with us we would love to see how you've decorated and implemented your new chart!

Girl Power of Central Florida's 2nd Annual Back to School Bash was a success! We had a blast spending the day with the girls connecting with them on various levels such as: beauty and pampering, journaling, sharing stories of confidence and inspiration, teaching them self-defense techniques, and more! A special "THANK YOU" goes out to each and every Sponsor and Volunteer who contributed to the event, without you none of this would be possible!

Thank you for your selfless devotion of time (and money) to our girls (20+ girls were sponsored and attended the event for free). The girls know for sure they are loved by many in our community. Each attendee was able to show her gratitude by writing a "Thank You" letter to the individual/companies who sponsored her to attend the event. This is our most favorite part of the event and it gives the girls' the opportunity to reflect and show their appreciation.

Again, a special "THANK YOU" goes out to our Sponsors, as we like to affectionately refer to as our "COMMUNITY SUPERHERO'S":

Our special guests for this year's B2S Bash included:

Host (Phoenix Jenkins, Children Advocate)

Ms. Jenkins positive energy and spirit radiated throughout the building! The event attendees and parents are still raving about how wonderful and hands-on she was with the girls. Ms. Jenkins was the true definition of an Hostess with the Mostess!

Special Guest (Latosha Thomas - Demonstrated Fun/Healthy Exercises)

Ms. Thomas did a fabulous job with breaking the ice and getting the girls up and moving! They were a little shy at first, however she was really patient with them. Ms. Thomas' upbeat music and dance moves had the girls smiling from ear to ear.

Special Guest (Juan Burgos, Bushikan Karate, Demonstrated Self-Defense Techniques)

Mr. Burgos self-defense seminar was a crowd favorite. He spoke to the girls about bullying and ways to protect themselves if they were ever to face a bully or find themself in a dangerous situation. Mr. Burgos seminar was very interactive and captivating he left the girls wanting more. Mr. Burgos also, handed out five certificates for five girls to attend his summer class for FREE!

Special Guest (Shauna Hart, Glamour Kids Braiding Studio, Demonstrated & Shared Healthy Hair Tips)

Ms. Hart shared with the girls and parents a variety of healthy hair tips and the importance of caring for your hair/growth. She also demonstrated fun and easy age appropriate hairstyles for easy maintenance for those busy moms on the go!

Special Guest Speaker (Kamaria Laffrey, Empowered Legacies, Spoke to the girls about Self-Love & Confidence")

Mrs. Laffrey is an advocate for HIV and shared her own personal story with the girls - her journey to self-love and confidence. Mrs. Laffrey shared helpful tips and ideas to keep the girls motivated and learn to love themselves the way God made them.

Fun in the Photo Booth:

Words of Inspiration For Our Girls:

Throughout the event there were signs sporadically placed around the building to encourage the girls to love themselves, to motivate them to make the right choices, to encourage leadership and confidence, and to accept the cultural difference(s) of others.

If you're looking for things to do (in Central Florida) this summer with your child(ren) we may have you covered. Summer programs can become very expensive when trying to enroll more than two (2) children at a time. Try connecting with other parents who're also looking for things to do with their child(ren) and together create your own weekly agenda to keep your kiddos busy during the summer. With a little creativity and advance planning of your own you can possibly create your very own customized summer program for a fun-filled packed summer!

Let's get started! Below we've gathered a few places you can venture out to during this summer - registration is required for majority:
***Please make sure to notate the date/time for each activity (majority are location specific)

1. Regal Cinemas/$1.00 Summer Movies Express
(Monday-Friday)
http://regmovies.com/mvoies/summer-movie-express

2. Cobb Theatres/Free Summer Movies
(Monday-Friday)
http://www.cobbtheatres.com - Visit your local Theatre page for the summer schedule

3. Skating/Free
(Hours of Availability Are By Location)
http://www.kidsskatefree.com

4. Bowling/Free
(Hours of Availability Are By Location)
http://www.kidsbowlfree.com

5. Public Library/Free
Check your local library and register for their summer events/activities

6. City Website
Check your local Chamber/City Website and register for their summer events/activities

7. Places Kids Eat Free
http://www.kidsmealdeals.com - Search by location

8. Lowes Build & Grow/Free
(Select Saturdays)
http://lowesbuildandgrow.com/pages/default.aspx

Hopefully, this compilation of things-to-do will get your gears turning and you're able to plan some of your own fun summer activities. In our next post we will be providing you with ways to keep your summer activities organized and available to your child(ren) so they're aware of activities for each day and have something look forward to.

If you have additional ideas you would like to share with us in regards to places-to-go/things-to-do this summer than please feel free to drop your comment below, we would love to hear from you!
